A BEAUTIFUL ROSE
Rose glanced across the room at her sleeping husband stretched out on the sofa.
How she hated him! Every breath he took made her want to bash his head in. Why was he still alive?!
Rusty snored loudly and rolled over.
Rose had to clamp her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming out loud in disgust.
She looked down at the ring on her right hand.
The pillbox ring had been passed down throughout the generations, from mother to daughter.
Rose never really cared for it. Until the day four months ago when she realized Rusty had to go. The bastard had to die. She had taken it out of her jewelry box and started wearing it.
That was the day she came up with the plan. Her perfect plan to rid herself of this bothersome creature she was forced to call her husband. Once he was gone, she would finally be able to be with the man she loved.
The day Rose began to wear her ring was the same day she was watching The History Channel and saw a documentary about Socrates.
He'd been killed with something called hemlock. Rose sat riveted to the TV screen. She had to get her hands on some hemlock!
After searching online for nearly a week, she found someone willing to send her a powerful infusion of it.
It took nearly two months to get to her.
Once she got it, she carefully hid some of it inside the ring.
Rusty loved fruit water. It was his favorite. She knew because the asshole was always asking for it.
Every time she brought him a glass, she put some hemlock in it. It seemed the jerk was immune to the stuff because he was still among the living.
Rose knew what she had to do. She had to up the dose. The next glass of fruit water had to be 100% stronger than the ones in the last few days.
She needed him to die and needed it to happen soon. How was she ever to be with the man she loved with Rusty still here?! Tomorrow was Sunday! Sunday was the day she met up with her true love, Daryl. Oh, how she looked forward to Sundays. No one had ever made her feel the way Daryl did.
Rose rolled her eyes so hard it nearly gave her a headache when Rusty snored once more.
Well, it was obvious the son of a bitch wasn't going to croak tonight so she went to bed.
Tomorrow was a new day and she was determined to kill Rusty.
Suddenly her slumped, defeated shoulders rose. She smiled as she thought about how wonderful it would be to finally be with her true love once Rusty was gone.
As she stretched out in her bed, she thought back to when she first married Rusty.
It wasn't even that he'd ever treated her badly. Rusty was actually one of the sweetest, kindest men she'd ever met. She was happy with him for over 34 years.
He wasn't abusive and always treated her gently.
Then she met 'him' last year. Her true love. The man she was meant to be with. He loved Rose, and oh my, how she loved him. She had stumbled upon him by accident. But once she found him, she was hooked.
He actually hadn't come out and said he loved her. But she didn't need to hear the words. She saw it in his eyes. All those other women who lusted over him meant nothing to him, Rose knew that. Daryl only had eyes for her. He'd told her so in the dreams she'd had of him.
Rose drifted off to sleep and woke up the next morning bright and early. She could hear Rusty puttering around downstairs.
She filled the pillbox ring to the rim with hemlock. She dressed quickly and made her way downstairs.
She was greeted by clumsy ass Rusty in the kitchen attempting to cook breakfast. It smelled like he was burning down the house.
Just then the fire alarm went off.
"You should've informed the smoke detector you were planning on cooking, dear. Now it's on high alert, thinking we are burning alive."
Rusty quickly fixed the beeping alarm and turned to Rose.
"What a beautiful ray of sunshine you are this morning, my beautiful Rose. Just as lovely as the day I married you," Rusty said with a huge, stupid grin.
Rose had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. She didn't have time for his nonsense. Daryl would be here this evening! She had to get to work quickly.
She made a glass of fruit water for Rusty and added a huge amount of hemlock when his back was turned . This had to work! She gave it to him, and he kissed her on the cheek.
Rose forced a smile and offered to finish cooking breakfast.
Rusty went to relax on the couch and watch the news.
Rose carried their food to the living room after it was finished and sat on the couch with Rusty.
She knew the instant the hemlock took affect.
She heard Rusty's plate hit the floor. She looked at him and he seemed to be made of stone. His eyes were the only thing moving.
Rose couldn't stop the smile that lit up her face. It was about time! Took him long enough!
Rose went about her day, oblivious to the suffering man on her couch. Rusty's death was one of the worst any human, or animal, could ever endure.
He was paralyzed as his body began to shut down. He died slowly and painfully.
Rose came downstairs after showering, doing her hair and makeup, to find him on the couch.
"Oh, this just won't do! You've taken up the entire couch with your stinky self!"
She shoved him onto the floor and threw a blanket over him.
Her heart raced as she sat down on the couch to wait on Daryl to arrive.
She squealed when she first saw him. There he was right before her eyes..on the tv screen. Her handsome man. Her zombie killer.
Rose was finally happy. She had her man.

Whoa!!
