SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF THESE
Julie laid back on her blanket and relaxed on the sandy California beach, enjoying the last night of her vacation. She looked over the ocean at the sun setting and couldn't help but to sigh.
"I'm sure gonna miss this when I head back home," she mumbled to herself.
She closed her eyes and tried to soak the moment in. Before long, she'd drifted off.
"Hello there, beautiful. For a moment I thought a mermaid had landed ashore. Or sleeping beauty, maybe?" a deep voice said with laughter.
Julie opened her eyes to see the most amazing man standing before her. He looked to be well over 6ft tall. Dark curls crowned his gorgeous tanned face.
She was so embarrassed that he'd found her sleeping.
He sat down beside her on the deserted beach.
Julie couldn't believe her luck. She'd been on vacation for a week and had never seen him around before.
She quickly sat up on the blanket and smiled at him.
He reached out his hand and said, "I'm Marc. It's a pleasure to meet you."
She just kept smiling, like a moron.
"And you are?" he asked with a grin.
"Oh, umm. Julie. I'm Julie. Julie Scholz."
She grasped his outstretched hand and shook it.
"So you're on vacation ?"
"Yes," Julie answered, "From Ohio. I'm actually going home tomorrow."
"Didn't you read the sign at the end on of the beach? They warn against sleeping here."
"I didn't see a warning," Julie said, somewhat confused.
Without warning, Marc leaned forward and kissed her.
Julie was shocked, but didn't resist him. This man was gorgeous and this was the last night of her vacation. She wanted something good to tell her friends once she returned to Ohio.
He kissed a trail from her lips to her neck, and Julie felt him nibble gently.
At first it was nice, then it suddenly felt like he had sunk fangs into her neck and it was as if fire was shot into her body.
She tried to pull away but couldn't.
Tears sprang to her eyes and she attempted to push him away.
When she tried to scream, it felt like her mouth was full of something. Whatever it was, was moving. Her tongue began to swell.
"Stop fighting me, lady!"
Julie heard Marc, but she could no longer see him. Her eyes closed and wouldn't open.
She felt him shaking her shoulders.
"Fire ants are attacking you!! Please stop fighting me! I'm trying to help you!" he said desperately.
When he'd came across her sleeping on the beach, he started to walk on past. Until he saw the swarm of fire ants covering her.
There were hundreds of them. They were crawling inside her mouth, eyes and ears.
She must've been dreaming because she kept talking in her sleep.
Marc tried to help her, but soon realized there was nothing he could do. He'd found her too late.
Julie's body went limp and Marc jumped back once the ants started to attack him.
He felt bad for this woman. He hoped whatever it was she was dreaming when she died was something good.
