Halloween Horror: Part 2

HALLOWEEN HORROR: PART 2

Nikki felt her heart jump in her throat as the little witch lifted the popcorn ball to her lips.

Without thinking twice, she cast a spell to slow down time. She flew to the little witch with speed only a real witch would be able to. After grabbing it from her hands and tossing it as far as she could, she lifted the spell.

The little girl bit into air. She looked up at Nikki with a confused look.

"Don't look at me. You're the one that's dressed like a witch."

The little girl wandered away once the group she was with got closer.

Robert sat on the porch with tears running down his cheeks, and was doing his best to keep his composure.

"Holy shit, are you crying?", Nikki asked as she returned to her seat.

"I'm laughing. Laughing at the irony. A real witch used a spell on a fake witch! That is irony, right?"

"I had no choice. You know I don't like to risk exposing myself. By the way, you're a witch too, jackass. Wipe your damn tears. You look like you've sprung a leak."

Robert swabbed at his eyes, and laughed.

"This is crazy, Nikki. We didn't kill this dude. When you found him in your home, he was already dead. Why can't we just call the cops? That seems like the smarter thing to do, rather than risk feeding him to kids."

" You know damn well why! This 'dude' is one of the most powerful witches we know! He was obviously put here by someone hoping to frame me. If I'm blamed, I'll have the entire coven on my ass! I'm not in any rush to be burned at the stake.   The question is, who is trying to set me up?!"

Robert understood where she was coming from. He knew why she was worried.

"I guess you're right. If the cops were involved and this hit the news, you'd be in deep shit the instant the coven found out."

"Right! Now you're thinking. The only option is to get rid of the body so no one ever finds it. Trust me, if I could've just moved the body somewhere else, I would've. I can only cloak my house in invisibility. Once I stepped off this porch, they would've seen me with the body."

"True. And it's not like you could've slowed down time since that has no affect on other witches," Robert replied.

Nikki was shocked when she came home earlier that morning and found Thomas bleeding on her living room floor. She had done her best to save him, but knew it was too late when she saw the gash across his throat. It nearly sliced his head from his body.

Her first reaction had been to call the cops. But she knew if anyone else in the coven discovered this, she would be punished by them. Murdering another witch was the worst crime one could ever commit. She would die by fire.

She had panicked and called Robert to help her get rid of the body. Chopping it up and molding it into the popcorn balls seemed like the smartest thing to do at the time. Now she was second guessing that choice.

An hour passed and the popcorn balls were slowly dwindling down. Nikki checked the box and was disappointed to see so many left. She was hoping to have them gone by now.

"This isn't working. Start giving out a few to each kid," she said to Robert.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a female voice said from behind her.

Nikki turned around on the porch to see half the coven standing there.

 Oh fuck.
