Secret In The Garden

SECRET IN THE GARDEN

"Keep digging, Kristin! Those seeds aren't going to plant themselves," Brandon said with a smirk.

Kristin looked back at him and rolled her eyes.

"This damn garden was your idea! And how can you pretend like you don't smell that god awful stench?!"

"I told you it was probably a dead animal. I passed one on the dirt road on my way up here."

Kristin had no clue why Brandon suddenly wanted to plant a garden. This piece of their property was nearly a mile from their cabin. She was burning up in the sweltering sun trying to toss these seeds in the ground, while his ass took off into town to supposedly get supplies.

"Where the hell are the supplies you went for? You've left me here for over two hours digging with a tiny ass trowel. You promised me a shovel. Yet I don't see a damn shovel, Brandon!"

"Whoa! Calm down! I have them in the back of the truck. I'll go get it in a second."

Kristin was becoming furious. She was ready to toss the gardening tool down and walk the mile home. Brandon insisted on this garden, saying it was the perfect way for them to save some money, but he hadn't helped her with it at all.

"This disgusting smell is making me sick! How can you stand it?!" she yelled.

Brandon shook his head and put down the bag of mulch he was holding.

"I guess I just don't smell it as strong as you do. It's not bothering me," he replied.

Kristin was about fed up with him. He'd been acting weird for the past few weeks. She suspected he was cheating on her. He disappeared for hours nearly every day and wouldn't answer his phone. He refused to tell her where he was all those hours.

"Harvesting our own food is a smart move. Just think of the money we'll save!" Brandon said.

She didn't respond. She just went back to digging. Brandon walked back to the truck to get the rest of the supplies. He heard Kristin scream in terror and went running to her.

"There's..a body! There's a god damn body, Brandon! Someone has buried a body here!!!"

Kristin was too shocked to even move so Brandon picked her up. He looked to the spot she was digging and saw the rotting corpse.

"Keep digging, my love. There's more," Brandon whispered in her ear.

Kristin turned and looked at him in shock.

"What the fuck?! Brandon! What are you saying?!"

"I'm saying there is no better compost than a dead, rotting human. There's enough in there to do the job. Just plant around them," Brandon replied calmly.

"Are you telling me you murdered these people?! WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

"You either keep planting or you'll be in there with them," Brandon said threateningly as he approached her.

Without hesitation, Kristin jabbed the trowel deep into his face, penetrating his left eye.

Brandon fell back onto the ground and screamed.

"I'll kill you! I'll fuckin' kill you, bitch!" he screamed.

Kristin ran to the truck and grabbed the new shovel from the back. She ran back to Brandon and placed the tip on his neck.

"Don't even think about it! You can't kill me!"

As soon as he started to move, she jumped up on the shovel and stomped down with all of her might. His head was nearly severed from his body.

"Don't tell me what I can't do, you crazy bastard!" she screamed.

She calmly walked to the truck and searched for Brandon's phone. She found it and dialed 911. Once help was on the way, she slumped down on the seat of the truck.

"I'm never gardening again," she said out loud.

"Never. Again."
