Nova pulled up the collar on her coat and stepped closer to the edge of the road. She knew hitching a ride on Christmas Day would be tough, but she had been assured the particular car she was watching for would indeed stop.
Her duffle bag was weighing down her slender shoulder so she dropped it on the snow covered roadside. She wasn't too concerned about the contents getting wet. Everything in there was well protected.
Darkness was beginning to fall as the evening set in. The brisk, cold breeze chilled her bones. She stuck up her thumb and stood closer to the glare of the headlights coming down the road towards her.
Inside the car, Lee and Ray were warm and cozy. The brothers were heading back to their apartment after gorging themselves on their mom's Christmas dinner.
Lee noticed the young woman on the side of the road first. The first thing he saw were the heels of her stiletto boots, then the long ponytail of sandy blonde hair waving in the wind.
"Holy shit, Ray! Look at that!" Lee said as the approached her.
"Damnnnn! And she's hitchhiking! What's the odds of us having this kind of luck?!" Ray said with a laugh.
"Are you seriously asking me? Because I have no clue," Lee replied.
Ray glanced over at his younger brother and rolled his eyes.
"No, I'm not seriously asking, you fucking moron. And if I did want to know the answer, I sure the hell wouldn't ask your dumb ass," he said with a huff.
Ray slowed down and pulled over a few feet in front of the young woman. The snow was beginning to fall fast and he was sure she was freezing out in the cold.
Nova picked up her duffle bag once she saw the old red car pull over. She smiled to herself. This was too easy. She hadn't expected them so soon.
She waited until the car stopped completely and walked up to the passenger side window. The instant the grimy looking young man inside rolled down the window, the smell of alcohol and dirty bodies hit her right in the face along with the heat from inside the car. It took everything she had to keep from gagging.
Lee smiled up at her from inside the car. Nova leaned down, making sure to show her cleavage that was busting at the seams of her coat.
She smiled her gorgeous smile, batting her coal black eyelashes over her dark eyes.
"Hello, gentlemen. May I have a lift?" she said with a smile.
Lee and Ray both spoke at the same time.
"Hell yes!"
"Hop in!"
The smell of their breath combined made her want to throw up. She wasn't sure she could handle this. This would be her toughest job by far.
She opened the back passenger side door and tossed her duffle bag inside. She couldn't help but notice that neither of them offered to help her. Nova didn't really mind. She'd known beforehand what type of men she'd be dealing with.
As she crawled in, both men took the opportunity to gaze at her chest. She wanted to spit in their face, but smiled at them instead.
Lee was nearly drooling. Her blonde hair combined with her dark eyes was gorgeous and he couldn't get enough of looking at her.
Nova slammed the door and said softly, "I'm ready whenever you are."
Both the men realized they were staring and quickly turned around in their seat.
Ray put the car in gear and pulled back off onto the road.
"So what's your name, gorgeous?" Ray asked as he glanced back at her through the rear view mirror.
"Nova. Nova Wolf," she said without hesitation.
"Nova Wolf?! Seriously? That's your name?" Lee asked as he turned around to face her.
"Yes, seriously." Nova answered patiently.
"An exotic name to go along with an exotic face," Lee practically purred at her.
It took everything she had to refrain from punching the disgusting look off of his face.
She took out her phone when Lee turned back around and quickly sent a text to her client, letting the lady know she'd successfully made contact with her targets. She slid the phone back into her pocket and attempted to make small talk with both the young men.
After traveling a few miles, Nova informed them she would be stopping right up ahead.
"But that's still in the middle of nowhere," Lee protested.
"Nah, I can't leave you out here in the cold and dark. Plus, you look like a woman that knows how to party. So I'm taking you home with us," Ray said determinedly, speeding up the car.
Nova shook her head. She was really hoping to do this while parked, but she wasn't opposed to doing it while the car was moving.
She quietly unzipped her bag and took two matching Silver Beretta's from their metal case. She checked to see if any other cars were on the road. The coast looked clear in both directions.
She pointed each one to the back of both men's skulls, right at the base.
"Now stop this piece of shit car," she said in a deadly tone.
Both men gasped in shock when they felt the cold barrels pressed against their heads.
"What the fuck?! Don't shoot, you crazy bitch! I'll let you out! Just don't hurt us!" Ray screamed as he looked back in the rear view mirror and saw the guns. He instantly slowed, trying to pull to the side of the road.
"I have no intention of hurting you. I do have every intention of killing you," Nova said calmly as she pressed the guns closer to their head.
"Oh, by the way. Marie says to tell you she hopes you both rot in hell," Nova said calmly as she pulled the trigger on both guns.
Blood and brains splattered all over her face.
After she tossed the guns back in her bag, she opened the door and jumped from the still moving car.
As she calmly walked away, she heard the car run off the road and hit an embankment.
She took a cloth from her pocket and wiped the mess from her face. She texted her client once more to let her know the job was done, then walked quickly into the darkness.
"On to the next job," Nova Wolf muttered to herself as she walked away, fading into the night.
